Cycle the vehicle’s ignition key to the “on” position to start or continue using SmartPTO

SmartPTO monitors vehicle CAN traffic to determine if the engine is running and if the ignition key is in the “on” position. These messages are used to enable or disable the pump in SmartPTO. In order for the pump to run, the vehicle’s engine needs to be off and the key needs to be in the “on” position to ensure vehicle CAN bus traffic is present. On trucks equipped with remote engine start/stop switches, the physical position of the ignition key is not sufficient to ensure the “key on” condition.
